What Are Nickel Alloys?

Nickel alloys are created by mixing nickel with other metals such as titanium, copper, aluminium, iron, and chromium. Around 3,000 nickel-based alloys are in use, generating products for a variety of sectors. Approximately 90% of all new nickel sold each year is used to make alloys. Stainless steel is the most common, accounting for around two-thirds of all new nickel alloys manufactured.

This material delivers the following enhancements.

  • Improved versatility
  • Improved strength at higher and lower temperatures
  • Magnetic properties
  • Electronic properties
  • Higher toughness
  • Increased corrosion resistance
  • Oxidation resistance

Many nickel-based alloys function well at temperatures exceeding 1000°C, making them ideal for use in severe settings. These materials provide exceptional oxidation resistance at high temperatures while retaining weldability, workability, and ductility.

Nickel alloy has an average life duration of 25 to 35 years. However, it may survive considerably longer depending on its use. Because of its long service life, this material is less expensive than other metals. Nickel alloy is a recyclable substance that is among the most recycled in the world. Approximately half of the nickel used in stainless steel goods is recycled nickel.

Renaissance Metal Craft Pvt. Ltd. are speciality manufacturers, stockists and suppliers of all grades and forms of nickel.

NICKEL ALLOYS (20, 155, 200, 201, 255, 400, 405, 600, 601, 617, 625, 718, X750, 800H, 825, 925, C22, C276, INVAR 36 and more)

What Are Nickel Alloys Used For?

This material is found in a wide range of everyday objects and equipment. Here are several examples:

  • Laboratory equipment
  • Transportation
  • Aircraft
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Building materials
  • Cell phones
  • Food preparation equipment
  • Medical equipment
  • Aircraft and power turbines
  • Nuclear power systems

Industries That Benefit from Nickel Alloy

In essential applications, industries such as energy, chemicals, petrochemicals, and electricity rely on nickel superalloys—those with exceptional oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength. Nickel, chromium, and molybdenum alloys have higher corrosion resistance.

Superalloys are created by combining balanced proportions of metals such as chromium, aluminium, cobalt, and titanium to form ideal directionally solidified or single crystal structures that outperform conventional steel. These nickel-based alloys are used in highly hot situations, such as power generation gas turbines and aeroplanes.

Nickel-iron alloys are widely used in electrical and speciality engineering. Because of their seawater corrosion resistance, nickel-copper alloys are used in marine engineering. Engineering markets accounted for 27% of all end-use nickel applications in 2015.

Because it has very low corrosion rates while handling water, even at high flow rates, wastewater treatment and plumbing systems have increased their usage of this type of stainless steel. It also has exceptional strength and ductility, as well as ease of manufacturing, allowing for the use of less expensive joining methods for building pipework.

Nickel Alloy Ni-201, Commercially Pure Nickel

Ni 201 and Ni 200 are also known as Nickel Alloy Ni-201 and Commercially Pure Nickel, Ni 201. The main difference between Ni 201 and Ni 200 is the carbon content (.02% maximum in Ni 201 versus.15% maximum in Ni 200). Because of the minor decrease in carbon, Ni 201 can be used in higher temperature applications (over 600°F), such as:

  • Above 300°C handlings and manufacture of sodium hydroxide
  • Manufacturing of soap
  • Manufacturing of Viscose Rayon
  • Benzene, methane, and ethane production
  • Vessels and reactors

Ni 201, like Ni 200, provides a wide range of advantages to consumers, including:

  • It may be heat moulded into an almost infinite variety of shapes.
  • Under suitable circumstances, cold rolled
  • Highly resistant to a wide range of reducing chemicals
  • Excellent resistance to caustic alkalis
  • Excellent electrical and magnetic characteristics
  • Electrical and thermal conductivity are quite high.
  • Nickel's tensile strength

Except for the aforementioned change in carbon content, Ni 201 is made of nearly the same compounds as Ni 200.

  • Ni 99% min
  • Fe .40% max
  • Mn .35% max
  • Si .35% max
  • Cu .25% max
  • C .02% max

Renaissance Metal Craft Pvt. Ltd. is a manufacturer, supplier and stockist of Nickel Alloy Ni- 201 and Commercially Pure Nickel in rod, bar, pipe, tube, plate, sheet, strip, fittings, forgings, and wire. All of the above are subject to one of the numerous stringent industrial standards, such as those issued by ASTM, ASME, DIN, ISO, and B/SB. We will get back to you with the best quote for your requirement for inconel/incoloy, hastelloy, monel, nickel alloy, alloy 20, etc. in the form of pipes & tubes, sheets & plates, round bars, flanges, fasteners, pipe fittings.
